Olympicks: Venues for the Yanqing Olympics will open to the public next Friday

While the opening includes the chance to tour all of the facilities there, the report seems to focus on one thing in particular – the fact that guests will be able to partake in meat pies “similar to the ones Eileen Gu has eaten”.

OlymPicks: Olympic venues in Yanqing will be open to the public next Friday It’s unclear how good these meat pies are, but emulating China’s Winter Olympics hero doesn’t go that far at the resort; you will only be able to see the alpine ski slopes from afar instead of hurtling down on skis at breakneck speed.

So, once you’ve caught your Eileen Gu-like meat pies, gawked at the alpine slopes, and tried VR sledding, what else can you do? You can wander around the Olympic Village for a while and “immerse” yourself further by taking a nap in one of the 100 athlete rooms that are due to be open.

The latter, where the bobsleigh, skeleton and luge events were held, is high on my list – bobsleigh is one of my favorite sports. And while guests won’t be able to try it out for themselves, there’s a full VR setup complete with a fake sled to try out the sport. Either way, the places are a sight to behold. There is the Center National de Ski Alpin, aka “Swallow swimming in the snow”, and the Center National de Glisse, aka “Dragon swimming in the snow”.

Although you can opt for a Didi to Yanqing, the journey to Yanqing is long. We therefore recommend the high-speed train. Trains to Yanqing Station are available daily from Beijing North and Qinghe Station (to Shangdi Station on Line 13). Once you get off at Yanqing Station, you can hop in a taxi or Didi to the venue.
