Greek athletes shine at European Games; double gold, a first in race walking

Greek amateur athletes achieved impressive results at the European Championships which end in Munich on Sunday as they battle to qualify and increase their standings in the games which open on August 11.

With outstanding Olympian and ring athlete Lefteris Petrounias still to compete before the games closed, Greece won a total of five gold and four silver medals in both men’s and women’s competitions.

The following Greek athletes have reached European Championship levels so far:

– Antigoni Ntrismpioti: gold medal in the women’s march over 35 km, gold medal over the same 20 km (first woman to obtain double medals in this sport at the European Championships)

– Miltos Tentoglou: gold medal in the men’s long jump
