Des Linden joins BOA Nutrition’s roster of elite athletes

BOA Nutrition, the company behind BOA Endure oral aerosol, has announced a partnership with long-distance runner, marathon champion and 50km world record holder Des Linden.

The two-time U.S. Olympian and 2018 Boston Marathon winner will serve as an ambassador for the Endure brand, which she will use throughout her training and competition regimen.

Using BOA Nutrition’s proprietary “OraBlast Technology,” Endure claims to deliver the same amount of sodium in a two-second spray as a whole 12-ounce sports drink. BOA adds that aerosol blast can help athletes hydrate up to 10 times faster than liquids, powders, pills, gels or sticks, helping to guard against the “sodium gap” that can lead to muscle cramps and fatigue.

“BOA Endure has proven to be the difference throughout my training and performance,” Des Linden said. “I’m thrilled to represent such a unique brand that allows me to do what I love without worrying about cramps and other issues so common in endurance sports.”

Linden is one of America’s most accomplished distance runners of all time, with multiple top-five performances in four of six World Marathon Majors. In 2011, her near-victory in a thrilling one-two finish at the Boston Marathon set a new American women’s record.

She was the top American woman in the New York Marathon in 2014 and again in Boston in 2015. After representing Team USA at the 2012 London Summer Olympics and four years later in Rio, she braved rain and wind in 2018 to become the first American woman. in 33 years to win the Boston Marathon.

In 2021, Linden set the world record for the 50 km (31.06 miles) at 2:59:54, making history by becoming the first woman to run the distance in less than three hours.

“Des is one of the most outstanding athletes in the sport of marathoning and we are thrilled to have her join the BOA team,” said Jon Pritchett, CEO of BOA Nutrition. “It’s an honor to help world-class athletes like Des push their limits, in training and competition, so they can reach their full potential.”

BOA Nutrition was launched in 2020, working with athletic training and sports nutrition specialists from Duke University to create the fast-acting oral aerosol for nutraceutical applications. The company is developing a line of new products using OraBlast technology to provide specific benefits for competitive athletes and everyday consumers.

Endure, the first product introduced by the brand, recently achieved certification from the NSF Certified for Sport program, recognized by professional sports organizations around the world for its verified testing against 280 banned sports substances and for the highest manufacturing standards.

In addition to Linden, brand ambassadors include: U.S. IRONMAN Champion Sam Long; obstacle course champions Hunter McIntyre and Katie Knight; Wendell Moore Jr, former Duke basketball star and Minnesota Timberwolves first-round pick; Detroit Lion defensive end Austin Bryant; and LA Football Club forward Christian Torres.
